On the canvases emerges a world full of illusion, where the boundaries between reality and dream blur. Creating this, I grappled with the question of which realm of existence is real - is it the world we perceive in dreams, or the one we acknowledge as real. I wanted to explore that feeling of illusion that passes through the layers.
At first glance, to the observer, a scenery unfolds where some sleeping figures are immersed in the realm of dreams. Their bodies lie in a carefree state, and their minds are entangled in the labyrinths of endless dreams. Every detail, every brushstroke, every color is carefully expressed on the canvas, seeking to delve into the mysteries of dreams and reality.
However, upon deeper reflection, the other side of the coin is revealed to us. Not only are the figures asleep, not only do they exist in a state between wakefulness and dream. People also sleep even when ostensibly awake - entangled in the whirlpool of obligations, programmed to be someone others want them to be. Their lives resemble a cycle of routine tasks, as if they were merely actors on the grand stage of life.
This second layer of the painting unveils the bitter truth about a society that often operates on autopilot. People do not live their own lives - they are like puppets whose strings are pulled by societal demands, the expectations of others, or unrelenting pressures. So many of them never wake up throughout their lives, stuck in an invisible dream where there is no room for real experiences, passions, or dreams.
Obraz ten nie tylko jest dziełem długotrwałego procesu malarskiego, ale także symbolizuje głęboką refleksję nad kondycją ludzkiego istnienia. Warstwy farb, które ulegają destrukcji, odsłaniają wcześniejsze warstwy, są jak metafora dla naszego własnego życia – czasem musimy zniszczyć to, co na pozór stałe, aby móc odkryć prawdziwe piękno ukryte pod powierzchnią naszej egzystencji.
This painting is not only the result of a lengthy artistic process but also symbolizes a profound reflection on the condition of human existence. The layers of paint, undergoing destruction to reveal earlier layers, serve as a metaphor for our own lives - sometimes we must destroy what appears to be stable in order to uncover the true beauty hidden beneath the surface of our existence.
